Our award-winning EDGE program is one of the best business incentives in Canada. We provide a 15-year tax break, a 100 per cent rebate on provincial corporate income tax, a 100 per cent rebate on health and post-secondary education tax, a 50 per cent rebate on federal corporate income tax (the only province in Canada to offer this rebate) and access to Crown land for business set-up, relocation and expansion.
Newfoundland and Labrador is an energy warehouse. We are a significant producer of hydro-electricity and 80 per cent of eastern Canada's offshore petroleum resources are located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador. In fact, we will produce close to one-half of Canada's conventional light crude oil this year.
