CENTRAL WEST

CORPORATION

The Central West Health Corporation services communities from Lewisporte to Birchy Bay, all coastal communities from Norris Arm to Purbeck's Cove, Notre Dame Junction to Sandy Lake, the Buchans area, the Connaigre Peninsula to McCallum and Rencontre East. This health board services a population of 66,000.

A.M. GUY MEMORIAL HEALTH CENTRE
This Centre at Buchans, that also serves the communities of Buchans Junction and Millertown, has 18 long-term care beds, two acute care beds, one holding and one palliative care bed. Services provided include: active recreation therapy program; after-hours pharmacy; biweekly private dental clinic; laboratory and X-ray; outpatient and physician's clink; pastoral care; public health and continuing care; wellness clinics; 24-hour ambulance; 24-hour emergency services; and 24-hour nursing services. Physiotherapist; occupational therapist; social worker; dietitian and speech language pathologists visit regularly.

BAIE VERTE PENINSULA
HEALTH CENTRE

This Centre, which serves approximately 10,000 residents located in the 21 communities around the Baie Verte Peninsula has 26 beds (17 long-term, one respite, seven acute, and one palliative care). The following services are provided: an active recreation therapy program; comprehensive rehabilitation service with physiotherapist and physiotherapy aide on-site; consultation with occupational therapy; laboratory and X-ray; outpatient and physicians' clinic; private dental and chiropractor clinics; public health and continuing care; social worker, dietitian and speech language pathologist visit regularly; pastoral care; 24-hour emergency; and 24-hour nursing.

CARMELITE HOUSE SENIOR CITIZENS HOME
This long-term care facility at Grand Falls-Windsor has 60 long-term care and two respite care beds. Services provided include: active recreation therapy program; clinical dietitian services; comprehensive rehabilitation service with physiotherapy aide on-site; consultation with physiotherapist, occupational therapist, and speech language pathologist; long-term care for levels II-IV; limited day care program; medical clinic weekly with 24-hour on call physician; social worker on -site; pastoral care and 24-hour nursing.

CENTRAL NEWFOUNDLAND REGIONAL HEALTH CENTRE
This regional facility, situated in Grand Falls-Windsor, serves a referral area population of approximately 110,000 people. Services provided include: 137 beds; ambulatory clinics; clinical dietitian services; day surgery program; diabetic services; five operating rooms; hemodialysis program; hostel; ICU/CCU department; laboratory and diagnostic imaging; medicine; mental health; obstetrics/gynecology; one urology suite; otolaryngologist (ear, nose, throat) services; pediatric; psychology services; rehabilitative services; same-day admissions program; speech language pathology and audiology services; surgical units; social work services; pastoral care, health care auxiliary and 24-hour emergency.

Specialist in anesthesia; dermatology; general surgery; internal medicine; neurology; obstetrics and gynecology; ophthalmology; otolaryngologist; pediatrics; pathology; psychiatry; radiology; urology; as well as general practitioners and emergency room physicians are available. In addition, visiting specialists are available in nephrology, oncology, orthopedics, and pediatric cardiology.

The centre is equipped with endoscopic investigative equipment, colour ultrasound, CT scan, E.E.G. and E.M.G., holter monitoring, pulmonary function testing, stress testing, bone mineral densitomer, mammography and pacemaker investigative equipment.

GREEN BAY COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE
This centre has eight beds (one special care, two convalescent, four holding and one palliative care). Services provided include: clinical dietician services; emergency and OPD services; laboratory and X-ray; outpatient department; physiotherapy; private medical clinic; a social worker on site; pastoral care and 24 hour nursing.

VALLEY VISTA SENIOR CITIZENS COMPLEX
The complex at Springdale includes a long-term care facility with 111 beds (75 long-term care, three respite and 33 residential beds) and 88 cottage units. Program s and services provided include: an active recreation therapy program; clinical dietitian services; comprehensive rehabilitation service with a physiotherapy aide and an occupational aide on-site; consultation with physiotherapist, occupational therapist and speech and language pathologist; health care auxiliary; long-term care for levels I-IV; on-site social worker; pastoral care and 24-hour nursing.

DR. HUGH TWOMEY HEALTH CARE CENTRE
This centre in Botwood serves the communities within the Bay of Exploits area. It houses three units long-term care, protective care and veterans nursing care. Together they consist of 80 beds
(77 long-term care, two respite and one palliative care). Programs and services include a family participation program; Alzheimer support program; pastoral care; outpatient adult enrichment program; family practice clinic with four physicians on-site; laboratory and X-ray; physiotherapy; recreation; dietary; health care auxiliary; 24-hour emergency and various services accessed through Central West health Corporation and Health and Community Services - Central.

CONNAIGRIE PENINSULA COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE
This facility, located in the south coast community of Harbour Breton, has 20 beds (12 long-term, six acute, one respite and one palliative care bed). Services available include: active recreation therapy program; comprehensive rehabilitation service with physiotherapy aide on site and consultation with physiotherapy and occupational therapy; dietitian visits monthly; health care auxiliary; laboratory and X-ray; ultrasound one week/month; long-term care for levels III-IV; outpatient and physicians' clinics; palliative care; pastoral care as needed; social worker visits as required; 24-hour emergency; and 24-hour nursing.

This facility provides clinic, laboratory and emergency services 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.

GAULTOIS CLINIC
This clinic is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Nurse practitioner clinics are available on Tuesday of the first, second and third weeks of the month; physician clinics on Wednesdays of the fourth week. After hours emergency services are staffed by a nurse on Tuesday. Wednesday and Thursday and are available through the Hermitage Clinic or the Harbour Breton Hospital seven days a week.

BAY D'ESPOIR MEDICAL CLINIC
The physician's clinic is available 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday. The Nurse Practitioner Clinic is also available at the medical clinic. Regularly scheduled nurse practitioner clinics occur in Milltown and at the K&M Homes. On-call nursing services available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Private chiropractic services, dental services, laboratory, X-ray and a visiting dietitian are also available.

NORTH HAVEN MANOR
This facility, located in Lewisporte, Notre Dame Bay, includes the Northe Haven Manor Senior Citizens Home (a 65-bed long-term care facility with one palliative care and two respite beds) and 110 cottage units. Services available include: active recreation therapy program; and after hours clinic 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm weekdays and 24 hours on weekends; clinical dietitian services; comprehensive rehabilitation service with physiotherapy aide on-site; consultation with physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech language pathologist; limited day care program; long-term care for levels II-III; meals on wheels program to cottages; regular physician rounds; social worker on-site; pastoral care; health care auxiliary and 24-hour nursing.
