HEALTH
LABRADOR CORPORATION
The
Health Labrador Corporation services a large geographic area
with a sparse population. The geographic region covered spans
north of Black Tickle and west to Labrador City-Wabush. Within
this area there is a population of about 28,000.
FACILITIES
There are
two health care facilities in the region - the Labrador Health
center in Happy Valley-Goose Bay and the Captain William Jackman
Memorial Hospital (CWJMH) in Labrador City-Wabush.
Nursing
stations can be found throughout the region in the following
locations: Black Tickle, Cartwright, Churchill Falls, Davis
Inlet, Hopedale, Makkovik, Nain, North West River, Postville
and Rigolet.
CAPTAIN
WILLIAM JACKMAN MEMORIAL HOSPITAL (CWJMH)
The CWJMH
maintains 20 beds. Services provided include: acute care; diagnostic
services (laboratory and X-ray, including mammography); dietetic
services; emergency; general surgery; inpatient care; obstetrics
and gynecology; occupational therapy; outpatient care; physiotherapy;
primary care; long-term care and continuing care; and visiting
medical specialists.

HARRY
L. PADDON MEMORIAL HOME
This facility,
located in Happy Valley-Goose Bay, maintains 47 beds and provides
long term and continuing care services.

Labrador Health Centre maintains approximately 28 beds. Services
provided include acute care; diagnostic services (laboratory
and X-ray, including mammography); dietetic services; emergency;
general surgery; community dietetics, occupational therapy;
physiotherapy and speech language pathology; mental health and
addictions services; inpatient care; obstetrics and gynecology;
occupational therapy; outpatient care; physiotherapy; primary
care; and visiting medical specialists are available.
