Statement by the Prime Minister on the death of four Canadian Forces members

3 August 2006
Ottawa, Ontario

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the passing of four Canadian Forces members.

"On behalf of all Canadians, I extend my deepest sympathy to the loved ones of the four Canadian soldiers who died while serving their country.  I pray for the swift recovery of the soldiers who were also injured today.

"Their courage, in the face of complex challenges, speaks to a profound commitment to Canada and our mission in Afghanistan.

"We will remember these dedicated soldiers, and be proud of the sacrifice they made to bring stability and hope to the people of Afghanistan. They represent the best that Canada has to offer and I know I am joined by all Canadians in my gratitude for their sacrifice."
