The 10th CWB Variety Survey information contains more detail than ever before. Now you can create customized charts and graphs that display variety information by province. Also for the first time, statistical data by district is available.
Some of the highlights of this year's survey are:
- CWRS and CWAD classes combine to form 90 per cent of wheat acreage
- The three Prairie provinces show distinct differences in CWRS preference, with AC Barrie the most seeded in Manitoba, Lillian the most seeded in Saskatchewan, and Harvest the most seeded in Alberta.
- Turnover and change in wheat varieties continues. Most notable is the rapid rise of Lillian.
The CWB Variety Survey helps you make your seeding choices, helps the CWB develop plans to market your grain to your customers, and gives direction to plant breeders and seed growers. More than 8,500 producers responded to this year's survey, and about 35 per cent of those responded on-line. We are grateful to farmers for taking the time to provide us with this valuable information.
