SPONSORSHIP
A or may be initiated for potential suppliers for contract opportunities which contain security requirements. Procurement officers or project managers may, through their Directorate/Department or Agency Sponsorship authority, sponsor suppliers for a or provided there is a strong possibility that the contractor and its personnel will require access to CLASSIFIED / PROTECTED information, or valuable assets within the next 12 month period. The following criteria apply:
- Applications for or must be submitted in writing to Facility Clearance Officer, Industrial Security Operations Section, Canadian and International Security Directorate (CIISD).
- Requests for a or may emanate only as a result of:
- a written request from a Canadian Federal Government Department/Agency through their Departmental/Agency Security Authority;
- a written request from an Authorized Official or Company Security Officer of a Canadian organization which is currently active in the Industrial Security Program who intends to award a subcontract to a supplier. Such requests must be accompanied by a completed identifying the security requirements;
- a written request from the Agency responsible for the Industrial Security of a foreign government;
- a written request from a PWGSC project office, Regional office or from a PWGSC procurement officer through their respective sponsorship coordinator.
- All requests must provide the following information:

- access to 'PROTECTED A, B or C' information, assets or restricted work sites; and/or
- document safeguarding capability, production, EDP or at the 'PROTECTED A, B or C' level at their site.
