Volunteers

Thank You CSC Volunteers!

Keith Coulter, CommissionerI would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your many contributions to CSC and for your ongoing support as volunteers.

You make a real difference to the lives of the offenders you work with, and you are an essential component of our efforts to enhance public safety by supporting the successful reintegration of offenders into the community.

Whether you assist in delivering correctional programs, work with faith-based community groups, serve as a member of an advisory committee, or participate in many other volunteer activities, your efforts and expertise are greatly appreciated.

National Volunteer Week was established in 1943 to pay special tribute to Canadian volunteers who donate their time and energy assisting others and to raise awareness about the vital contribution volunteers make to our communities.

Thank you for your dedication and ongoing support to our public safety efforts. Your involvement helps make our communities safer.

Keith Coulter
Commissioner

Approximately 8,000 Canadians, from all walks of life, volunteer at CSC - helping in our institutions as well as in the community. Volunteers contribute to a variety of institution-based programs including chaplaincy, recreation activities, classroom and workshop instruction, social events and cultural activities. In the community, volunteers support families of incarcerated offenders and help released offenders re-adjust to life in the community.

National Volunteer Week, April 15 - 21, 2007

National Volunteer Week (NVW) was established in 1943 to recognize Canadian volunteers who donate their time and energy assisting others and to raise awareness about the vital contribution volunteers make to our communities.

CSC is deeply indebted to volunteers for their active contribution to public safety. We encourage you to visit this site in the upcoming days, where highlights from this year’s NVW will be posted.
