Funding now available for archival digitization projects for 2007-2008

Library and Archives Canada (LAC) and the Canadian Council of Archives (CCA) are pleased to announce that the guidelines for the 2007-2008 Archival Community Digitization Program, part of the Canadian Memory Fund /Canadian Cultural Online Program (CCO), are now available at: www.cdncouncilarchives.ca/financial.html

For fiscal year 2007-2008, the granting process within the archival community for the Canadian Memory Fund / Canadian Culture Online Program will again be administered by CCA in cooperation with LAC.

Financial assistance will be provided to archival institutions for digitization projects of archival records. Projects must propose the development of unique, digitized online cultural content, available free of charge via the Internet. The application deadline is March 23, 2007. The total amount of project funds available for the 2007-2008 fiscal year is approximately $1,250,000.

Projects will be submitted to LAC by the March 23rd deadline. A Steering Committee, composed of members from the Canadian Council of Archives (CCA), the Council of Provincial/Territorial Archivists (CPTA) and representatives of the historical and educational communities will examine all submissions according to the selection criteria listed below and make funding recommendations to the Librarian and Archivist of Canada.
