Geoscience


Monitors and collects data on mining and mineral exploration in Northern Canada. Promotes mining investment and provides information and technical advice to a wide variety of clients, including the mining industry, other government departments, First Nations, schools and the general public.

Conducts geoscientific research in collaboration with Territorial governments and the Geological Survey of Canada External link to a Government of Canada site - A new browser window will open.. This includes bedrock and surficial mapping, geochemical and geophysical surveys, mineral and placer deposit studies, environmental studies and investigation of reclamation methods.

Geoscience information is used in mineral exploration, mineral resource and environmental assessment, and land use planning.
