What is new/changed?

Amendments have been made to Commissioner's Directives 566-10 - Urinalysis Testing in Institutions and 566-11 - Urinalysis Testing in the Community.

Why was the policy changed?

The policy was amended for a number of reasons, including to refer readers to Annexes A and B, remove the word "institution" from paragraph 14, and add a deadline for sending samples to the laboratory. Also, a procedure and deadline for requests for review of positive test results have been added to comply with a Federal Court decision. Finally, methadone has been added to the list of intoxicants so that measures can be taken to counter its illicit use.

Paragraphs 7, 14, 32 and 35 of CD 566-10 and paragraphs 8, 27 and 30 of CD 566-11, as well as Annexes A and B of both CDs were amended following changes to the procedures and the list of intoxicants.

How was it developed?

The need for technical amendments was noted during a policy review performed by Security Operations Division at National Headquarters.
