Policy number and title:GUIDELINES 005-1 - INSTITUTIONAL MANAGEMENT STRUCTURE:
What is new/changed?Interim guidelines have been developed to define the roles and responsibilities of the new institutional management structure which was implemented on September 4, 2007. The fundamental goal in sharing roles and responsibilities is: to provide appropriate support and supervision of the intervention function to enhance offender monitoring through programs and case management; to provide appropriate support and supervision of the operational function to enhance safety and to prevent and effectively manage security incidents; and to facilitate open and ongoing cooperation between the intervention and operational functions to ensure an efficient exchange of information and effective decision making. These interim guidelines are published temporarily until CD 005 and other CDs are amended to reflect the changes made to the institutional management structure. How was it developed?Guidelines 005-1 were developed in collaboration with the Assistant Deputy Commissioners of Institutional Operations, Legal Services, Correctional Operations and Programs Sector, Women Offender Sector, Human Resource Management Sector, Health Services Sector; Policy and Research Sector and Aboriginal Initiatives Directorate. Accountabilities?Specific accountabilities are reflected within Guidelines 005-1. Who will be affected by the policy?All staff in institutions. Expected cost?The changes made to the institutional management structure are cost neutral. Other impacts?Training for all managers will be required. Contact:
