The Canadian Program Certification Office allows Canadian program producers to obtain Canadian certification for television productions that make predominant use of Canadian crews and talents. See the eligibility criteria below.

From 1960 to 2006, the CRTC has received over 30,000 applications to certify productions for broadcasters, specialty services or pay services. The total value of productions has increased from $260 million in 1993 to $1.2 billion in 2006-2007.

Who to call

The CRTC is providing a new resource for independent producers seeking information on Canadian program certification applications.

  • Producers can now communicate directly with Patrick Arseneau, Junior Analyst, Canadian Program Certification, who will be able to answer all questions concerning the use and submission of forms and the status of applications, and any comments regarding the Key Creative personnel directory. Contact Patrick by telephone at 819-997-8107.
  • For all other questions regarding Canadian program certification, contact Daniel Binette, Manager, Canadian Program Certification, at 819-997-4652.

Key creative personnel directory

Search for key creative personnel for each production certified as Canadian by the CRTC as of January 1st, 2004.

The directory provides you with the list of key creative personnel who worked on a specific production and vice versa, it also lists the productions each individual worked on. The search can be done under the file number, the applicant's name, the certification number, the name of the key creative person, or the title of the program. However, the point criteria does not apply to dubbings and live-to-tape sports events programs and, therefore, no key creative personnel are entered for these productions. As a result, no items will be found for these programs.
