Deep River Science Academy

The Deep River Science Academy (DRSA) is a six-week summer program that allows high school students to spend time in leading Canadian laboratories and earn academic credits while they do it.

The program is offered in Deep River, Ontario and is open to high school students across Canada. They spend six weeks of their summer living on campus and working on research projects in leading laboratories, under the guidance of a scientist or engineer, as well as a tutor. The projects range from chemistry, physics and biology through engineering and technology. Not only do students learn from this experience, but they also contribute to the research itself.

Educational credits are awarded to students on successful completion of the program. The major benefit to participants is the experience of working with scientists in a realistic research context, applying basic theories from high school science to real research.

AECL is a DRSA research partner and provides its Chalk River Laboratories as research facilities to the program.
