News ReleaseFor immediate release Bucklaw, N.S. - The Honourable Gerry Byrne, Minister of State for Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation (ECBC) and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) announced funding today towards expansion of Castle Moffett Limited. Castle Moffett Limited, located in Bucklaw near Baddeck, has received funding towards expanding its five-star inn. The project will include construction of a new building with three suites, expansion of the kitchen and dining room to accommodate an increase in breakfast and dinner patrons, and expansion of the parking facilities. A new service road will also be added. “The Government of Canada is pleased to assist local business people achieve their goals,” says Mark Eyking, MP for Sydney-Victoria, speaking on behalf of Minister Byrne. “The successful implementation of the project at Castle Moffett will provide the infrastructure necessary to service a growing market, increase sales and profitability and create jobs.” “The expansion project allows us to improve the profitability of our Inn,” says Desmond Moffett, owner of Castle Moffett Limited. “With the constant increase in visitors to the Baddeck area, the renovations help us satisfy the growing demand for higher-end accommodations on the Island.” The total estimated cost of the project is $300,000. Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation will make a repayable contribution of $147,500 through ACOA’s Business Development Program. It is estimated that three new full-time seasonal jobs will be created with completion of the project. Castle Moffett Limited has been in operation since May 1995. The facility, designed like an Old World Castle, is presently the only five-star inn on Cape Breton Island. It attained the CAA Four Diamond rating in 2002. The Inn now offers seven luxurious suites and employs nine full-time seasonal employees. Expansion work will be completed this spring.
