Application No. 2007-1293-6 |
|
Application by
6166954 Canada Inc. to amend the licence of the national Category 1
specialty programming undertaking known as OUTtv. |
|
The licensee
proposes to amend its condition of licence # 2 by reducing its Canadian
content requirements for the broadcast day from 65% to 50%. The evening
period would remain at 50%. |
|
The licensee also
proposes to amend its condition of licence # 3 by reducing its Canadian
programming expenditures from 49% of the previous broadcast year’s
revenues to 25%. |
|
The licensee
indicates that given OUTtv’s precarious financial circumstances, the
amendments requested are reasonable and necessary if the service is to
succeed in its efforts to rehabilitate OUTtv. |
|
The licensee also
indicates that the proposed amendments would have an impact on its
commitment related to the percentage of Canadian programming that would
be comprised of original productions. |
