Debbie Harry

Debbie Harry - One of the first and the most successful women to front a band of men. She became a pop and cultural icon for one of the most influential bands of the 70's - Blondie.

In 1973 - she met Chris Stein. Together they formed a long term relationship and the band 'Blondie.' They struggled for a few years but by 1977 - they had a hit song - 'Heart of Glass'

It was their first worldwide hit and they were superstars with followup hits like 'Rapture' and 'Call Me.'

Deborah is also an activist - she was one of the first celebrities to speak out about HIV/Aids. She has done several charity shows and worked with everyone from Amnesty International to MAC.

She is now releasing her sixth solo album - "Necessary Evil".

Thought the Debbie Harry segment was great.  Hated the end of the program where the crew got up off the couch leaving the pathetic moron making out with whatever the hell that was, a Debbie Harry album????  Ridiculous, no class, disgusting waste of time. Discredits your usual excellence in content.

hello, does anyone do their homework at The Hour-Cbc, all this information below you published is incorrect, if you need an artist's correct info, maybe go their official homepage and ask the die hards. this is what you wrote,  all of it was incorrect, which is sad, because isn't this what you people do for a living? what you said:

what is true:

Blondie's first #1 was In the flesh in 1977 in Australia, and their first international hit single was "Denis which was top ten in March 1978 all over the planet, and not heart of Glass.  Btw Heart of Glass was a hit in 1979 and not 1977, which is sad, considering it sold 400,000 copies in Canada and is the #4 biggest seller in Canadian History...Sigh! (Juno winner to boot for best international sog of 1979) The new album is not the 6th solo album, it's her 5th solo album, who came up with 6th, it's 5. (KOO kOO 81  ROCKBIRD 86  DEF DUMB AND BLONDE 89 DEBRAVATION 92  NECESSARY EVIL 2007) ****Just an observation, everyone pretty much knows Blondie, why focus on the Blondie videos in you piece, when Ms Harry was clearly on the show supporting her new album and song "Two Times Blue", too which the video was not even shown, makes no sense at all, you talked to her about the current stuff, but played retro video, very very disappointing. Many Blondie fans were let down, but we do appreciate you having her on, and we hope you understand the old/new observation, playing th new video may have helped her sell some cds here in canada
