He was the executive producer with Hockey Night in Canada for over 20 years. He brought in Howie Meeker and the one and only Donald S. Cherry. You got it, Ralph Mellanby is the man who brought Don Cherry and 'Coaches Corner' to the airwaves.
Mellanby has been named Canada's Broadcaster of the Year, has won five Emmies, and has been involved in the broadcasting of 12 Olympic games.
But hockey is his calling card. Now he's put all those years down on paper in his memoir, 'Walking With Legends: The Real Stories of Hockey Night In Canada.'
