Institute of Infection and Immunity (III) - Bridge Funding: Pandemic Preparedness Strategic Research Initiative

The CIHR Institute of Infection and Immunity (III) is pleased to announce short-term support offered under the Pandemic Preparedness Strategic Research Initiative that is funded by the Canadian federal government. In keeping with the intent of the PPSRI, CIHR will support meritorious projects that build on international efforts to improve Canada's ability to prevent and/or respond to an influenza pandemic.

The objective of this bridge funding is to offer short-term support to researchers who submit excellent research operating grant applications in areas relevant to the Pandemic Preparedness Strategic Research Initiative that are not funded through the regular CIHR competition to which they were submitted. This funding will be awarded to allow these excellent researchers to reapply to future competitions.

Based on the total funds available for the initiative, 3 applications will be funded by the Institute of Infection and Immunity. A list of applications that have been approved for funding through this competition can be viewed below.

The Pandemic Preparedness Strategic Research Initiative will also provide support for equipment for applications that are relevant to pandemic preparedness and influenza submitted and approved for funding under the regular CIHR competition. This equipment supplement is a one-time funding opportunity intended to provide maximum benefit to the influenza and pandemic research community with the budget for the Pandemic Preparedness Strategic Research Initiative.

A list of equipment supplements for grants approved under CIHR Open Competition will be announced.
