In today's global economy, international partnerships are the building blocks for technological advancements and innovation. International partnerships enable Canadian researchers to participate in major international research collaborations and to gain access to the world's best S&T facilities, equipment, talent, and knowledge. CIHR is committed to ensuring that Canadian researchers are able to establish strategic alliances with international partners and gain access to cutting edge research and technologies that are not currently available in Canada.
Please note some examples of international partnerships and programs.
The program, established in 2003, is jointly managed and funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). Its aim is to promote the development of Japanese-Canadian scientific co-operation between scientists from universities or affiliated research organizations in Japan and Canada through the support of collaborative research project grants.
The aim of this program is to promote the development of scientific co-operation between universities or affiliated research organizations in Mexico and Canada through the support of collaborative research project grants.
Tuberculosis (TB) is an important issue in Global Health, and was declared a Global Health Emergency by the WHO in 1993. Both countries wish to collaborate in order to develop better strategies on the operational issues on TB program management as a way to improve health in such communities and render health access and services more equitable.
The Program promotes excellent multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional, multi-sectoral research on TB in Mexico and Canada, through collaborative research programs.
