Partnership Workshop and Symposia Support Guidelines
The mandate of the Partnership Branch at CIHR is to manage consistent and effective partnerships activities across CIHR, based on the organization's strategic and operational priorities.
The Partnership Branch will provide support for workshops and scientific symposia that contribute to achieving CIHR's mandate and strategic objectives through innovative partnerships. Workshops and symposia for which financial support is requested must meet the general criteria outlined below:
General Criteria:
- The event is relevant to the health of Canadians and the Canadian research agenda
- There is a national focus to the event
- The event brings together a number of organizations and stakeholders
- There is a focus on building partnerships and developing networks
Outcomes of the event may include:
- Building networks of a variety of stakeholders
- Developing new partnerships that benefit, directly or indirectly, health research in Canada
- Educating stakeholders regarding partnership best practices
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be reviewed internally by senior CIHR staff and will be assessed according to the following criteria:
- Alignment and relevance to the Partnership Branch's mandate as described above
- Potential for reaching the stated outcomes
- Multidisciplinary and cross-cutting nature of the partnership
- Clearly defined dissemination plan of the outcome(s) of the event (proceedings, report, guidelines, position paper, research agenda, grant application, etc.)
- Suitability of the proposed budget detailing expenses in concordance with allowable costs
Please note: The Partnerships Workshop and Symposia Support funds are reserved for gatherings which are specifically designed to build meaningful, long-term collaborations between partners with a specific research agenda; unfortunately, we are not able to fund those events which are geared towards discussion and debate amongst researchers.
