Canadian society as a whole, is growing more and more diverse and this is a major challenge for the Correctional Service of Canada.
One of the key factors in the social reintegration and thereby, the reduction of recidivism is community involvement in the social reintegration process. Success in starting afresh depends partly on personal initiative and partly on the opportunities the community at large provides.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
Agencies and individuals in the community can also deliver programs or reinforce program activities. If, as a member of the community, you are interested in contributing to CSC's work in the social reintegration process and you have already established contacts with CSC officials (parole officer), you can be solicited to help ex-inmates by doing the following:
- Be an interpreter or translator
- Be a mentor
- Help with job searches
- Help with money management (budgeting)
- Find a place to live
- Be an escort for an inmate on a temporary absence, etc.
