Research Priorities

The Advisory Board Members of the CIHR Institute of Cancer Research (ICR), with the collaboration of representatives from NCIC, CAPCA and Health Canada, have selected and approved on May 23, 2002 six strategic research priorities subsequent to a methodical process of priority identification which began in 2001. Access to Quality Cancer Care and Research Training were later identified by ICR as important research areas.

    2. Molecular Profiling of Tumours
    3. Clinical Trials
    4. Early Detection of Cancer
    5. Risk Behaviour and Prevention
    6. Molecular and Functional Imaging 
    7. Access to Quality Cancer Care
    8. Research Training
