Financial Overview
As one of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (
CIHR), the Institute of Aboriginal Peoples' Health (
IAPH) manages a portion of
CIHR's funds. These funds are for:
- Institute strategic initiatives: funding to support strategic health research in the institute's area, by awarding peer-reviewed grants and awards
- Institute support grant: an annual grant to operate and develop research capacity in their scientific community, through collaborative activities
- Open competition grants: funding for competitions not managed by specific initiatives
In the year ended March 31, 2004, the Institute of Aboriginal Peoples' Health (IAPH) invested $4,308,277 in grants and awards to 53 projects in support of the Institute's strategic initiatives.
Besides projects funded directly through IAPH, in 2003-2004, CIHR invested $6,204,178 in 96 additional projects relating to Aboriginal Health.
