Are You Confused Yet? What Does The Evidence Say?

CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research Scientific Director, Dr. Colleen M. Flood, weighs in

Attention: Assignment editors, health, research and science reporters

OTTAWA (October 12, 2007) - Debate over Canada's health-care system never seems to end. Numerous organizations and opinion leaders have presented their solutions and ideas for changing the current system. Some proposals would expand the role for private insurance and private payment and allow physicians to work for the public system and treat private patients. Continued debate is healthy but it's also necessary to examine the evidence to be sure that proposals for a new health-care system will work. CIHR's Institute of Health Service and Policy Research has been studying the question and is available to discuss the evidence.
