Team Grant: Pandemic Preparedness - Influenza Transmission and Prevention

July 2007 Competition Results

The Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Institute of Infection and Immunity, the CIHR/Rx&D; Collaborative Research Program, Canada's Research-Based Pharmaceutical Companies (Rx&D;) Health Research Foundation 2006, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) are pleased to announce the results of the "Team Grant: Pandemic Preparedness - Influenza Transmission and Prevention Competition. The goal of the program is to strengthen the knowledge base and enhance research capacity in pandemic preparedness research. It is expected that this targeted investment will lead to increased knowledge, better methods and more efficient use of existing technology for responding to an influenza pandemic as well as a greater awareness of the relevance of this research by the general public in Canada, SE Asia and China.

A total of five (5) teams were invited to submit a full application from which, one (1) was approved for funding.
