Management Team 

Chief Executive Officer (Biographical Information for Michel Perron, Chief Executive Offier)
Responsible for setting the strategic direction of the organization and overall management of the organization's activities, with responsibility for the performance of CCSA, its projects, programs, staff and associates. In partnership with the Chair, enables the Board of Directors to fulfill its governance role, and facilitates the optimum interaction between management and Board. Gives direction to the formulation of CCSA's mission, strategy and annual objectives, and leadership to their achievement.


Deputy CEO and Director, Research and Policy
The Deputy CEO  is expected to act in the absence of the Chief Executive Officer. The Deputy CEO collaborates with the CEO in the overall administration of CCSA and  provides advice and recommendations to the CEO to ensure that the operation runs in an integrated, smooth and efficient fashion.   The Deputy CEO assists in attaining established strategic and operational goals and is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective  Strategic Planning process that ensures that  CCSA remains responsive to environmental trends,  has  the strategies  to achieve its mission and goals, and has a process to regularly assess and evaluate its achievements against the goals. The Deputy CEO participates in outside activities that are judged  to be  appropriate  by the CEO to help achieve CCSA's mission and directions and that serve to enhance the role of  CCSA in the area of substance use. This position  is also responsible for providing direction and structure to one of the key divisions of CCSA, that being the division of Research and Policy.  The Director of Research and Policy manages the activities in this division and is responsible for research and policy initiatives and for leading a team of researchers and policy advisors to ensure that evidence and data inform and shape Canada's responses to substance abuse issues.


Director, Workforce Development
Responsible for coordinating CCSA's leadership role in the design and promotion of a national workforce development strategy. Also responsible for CCSA's national HEP Program (Health Education and Enforcement in Partnership), which supports the development and implementation of Canada's Drug Strategy and the National Framework for Action to Reduce the Harms Associated with Alcohol, Other Drugs and Substances by providing a network where substance use and abuse stakeholders from a variety of sectors can work collaboratively with each other and with other provincial/territorial and national stakeholders.


Chief Financial Officer and Director of Operations
Responsible for ensuring CCSA's fiscal accountability through sound financial planning, budgeting, tracking and reporting to both internal and external stakeholders. Also responsible for the efficient management of various internal operational support services such as Human Resources, Travel and Meeting Planning, Information Technology, materials and facilities management, and contract and project management.


Director, Information and Reference

Responsible for facilitating access to critical information and knowledge products in support of the goal of effective knowledge translation.   Leading a team of information specialists and knowledge management professionals, provides information and reference services to Canada's substance abuse community, develops specialized databases such as listings of treatment services and education programs, and coordinates the CCSA website.  Also responsible for the information management requirements of the organization, including contact management and records management systems.


Director, Public Relations and Marketing
Responsible for promoting CCSA as Canada's national voice on substance-related issues by providing a range of marketing and communications services and advice to support CCSA's knowledge transfer, policy guidance and partnership building activities. Leading a  team of marketing, communications and document production professionals, ensures the ongoing quality and consistency of CCSA's knowledge products while also engaging with the media, preparing special events, and managing the CCSA Issues of Substance national conference, Action News newsletter and the Annual Report.
