Recreation in Canada

Canada is a world to explore and to experience. It’s here – almost every activity imaginable ranging from golf and bird watching to haute cuisine and travel.

Canadians are very fond of outdoor recreation and people don’t need to go far in Canada to experience it. Natural landscapes and vast expanses of forest, rivers, mountains and coasts are the norm rather than the exception – not to mention enumerable parks and public spaces that allow for hiking, camping, education, or just relaxation and appreciation of flora and fauna.

Everyone knows that ice hockey and lacrosse are Canada’s national winter and summer sports. But how about volleyball and curling, wakeboarding and snowshoeing, kayaking and rock-climbing, Canadian football, and the sport loved the world over – soccer?

This section is a gateway to information on the history and the organizations associated with these sports, as well as to the sites outlining major sporting events taking place in Canada including the FIFA U-20 World Cup Canada 2007, and the 2010 Vancouver Whistler Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games.
