Opportunities for Interdisciplinary Research from the Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP)

(2007-01-31) The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) supports international collaborations in basic research with emphasis placed on novel, innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to fundamental investigations in the life sciences, focused on the complex mechanisms of living organisms.

A clear emphasis is placed on novel collaborations that bring biologists together with scientists from fields such as physics, mathematics, chemistry, computer science and engineering to focus on problems at the frontier of the life sciences. HFSP is focusing on interdisciplinary research and wishes to involve scientists from outside the life sciences in research collaborations.

For Research Grants, the call for Letters of Intent for grants beginning in 2008 is now open. The pre-registration deadline is March 22, 2007 and the submission deadline is April 3, 2007.

HFSP is supported by contributions from its "Management Supporting Parties" (MSPs) consisting of granting agencies from Australia, the Republic of Korea, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the European Union and Canada (NSERC and CIHR).

For more details, see the Human Frontier Science Program website.
