Updates to CIHR's Application Forms

(2007-07-18) CIHR has updated its application forms. The following is a summary of key updates, categorized by topic.

Catalyst Grants
Applicants submitting an application to the Catalyst Grant Program need to check the box "Catalyst Grant" in the "Create New Application" section of the CIHR Web forms to create an application for this program. Your selection will appear on page 1 of the Research Module and will help direct your application to the appropriate CIHR Program Manager.

Research Proposal
The research proposal should stand alone (i.e., it should contain all the information required to support your research plan and a complete description of your project). For the purposes of peer review, the research proposal should not depend on information such as appendices that are not included in the page limit of the research proposal. Note that it is at the reviewers' discretion to access the appendices. In the research proposal, applicants must now describe their role and the roles of any other Principal Applicant(s) and/or Co-Applicant(s).

External Referees
Applicants may suggest Canadian and/or foreign reviewers. Note that not all CIHR programs use external referees. To find out if the program that you are applying to makes use of external referees, please contact the individual listed in the funding opportunity.

Attachments
Indicate your name, the full project title (do not use the lay title), the amount requested in year 1 and the section title (e.g., Summary of Research Proposal) at the top of each page.

Funding Project Summaries
Applicants who are required to complete and submit their application on ResearchNet must now attach a paper copy of the summary of research proposal from the original application, including its title, for each grant currently applied for and currently held as principal applicant or co-applicant.

Deadline Dates
Applicants completing and submitting their application through ResearchNet have until 23:59 Eastern Time to submit their application. Signature pages must be courier-stamped by the deadline date indicated in the funding opportunity.
