CIHR and its partners announce the following funding opportunity: Chair: Neurosciences and Mental Health (The EJLB-CIHR Michael Smith Chair in Neurosciences and Mental Health)

(2007-11-02) In 1993, Dr. Michael Smith was honoured with the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his discovery and development of a crucial technique, known as site-directed mutagenesis, which is used in genetic engineering. His discovery enabled researchers to gain enormous insights into the structure and function of genes and proteins.

In honour of Dr. Smith, who demonstrated exceptional commitment to research in mental health, and more specifically to Schizophrenia, the EJLB Foundation, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the CIHR Institute of Neurosciences, Mental Health and Addiction (INMHA) and The Royal Society of Canada (RSC), have developed the EJLB-CIHR Michael Smith Chair in Neurosciences and Mental Health. This Chair is set up in such a way as to allow a Canadian university or health research institute to attract a leading international scientist in the field of neurosciences and mental health to Canada.

To view this opportunity, please use the new CIHR Funding Opportunity Database.

Simply select "Chair: Neurosciences and Mental Health" from the list which is sorted alphabetically.

Please direct specific inquiries on the funding opportunity to the contact person listed at the bottom of the funding opportunity.
