Executive Vice-President

Christine Fitzgerald

Christine FitzgeraldIn her capacity as Executive Vice-President of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Christine Fitzgerald is responsible for providing strategic advice to the President, management leadership to the Scientific Directors of CIHR's 13 research Institutes and Vice-Presidents on corporate policies and cross-cutting administrative issues, and for bringing substantive and strategic advice to CIHR's Governing Council. Christine also has administrative responsibilities related to planning, corporate policy, communications and marketing, human resources, information technology and management services, corporate performance reporting, government relations and governance.

Christine brings over 25 years of experience in the health sector during which she held a number of senior management positions. She has several years of experience in strategic planning and operational management, performance measurement and evaluation in the health sector.

Christine is fluent in French and English, a Certified Health Service Executive with the Canadian College of Health Service Executives, holds a Masters in Health Service Administration degree from Dalhousie University, and a Bachelor of Science degree from Acadia University.
