The Biofuels Opportunities for Producers Initiative (BOPI), an initiative under the Advancing Canadian Agriculture and Agri-Food (ACAAF) Program, is designed to help farmers and rural communities hire experts who can assist in developing business proposals and undertake feasibility and other studies necessary to create and expand biofuels production capacity involving significant (greater than one-third) ownership by agricultural producers.

To address the additional demand generated by the first round of BOPI funding, up to $3 million of funding will be made available immediately under ACAAF in 2006-07 to fund approved projects.

An additional $7 million will be provided in fiscal 2007-08 to accommodate a second round of BOPI. Once again, the Industry Councils that administer the ACAAF Program will be delivering this additional BOPI funding.
