  • Preliminary Housing Start Data (Monthly)
    Have the most up-to-date Canadian housing statistics as soon as they are released. CMHC produces these tables on the sixth working day of every month.

  • Housing Information Monthly
    Ten homogeneous modules contain more than 90 data-rich statistical tables on starts, completions, sales and prices in provincial markets and more than 100 local markets.
    Note: Commencing in 2006, rental market information previously contained in Volume K of the December release of this publication can now be found in CMHC's new Rental Market Statistics report.

  • Monthly Housing Statistics
    Find out about housing starts, completions and expenditures as soon as the figures are released. Tables in this current-status report contain year-to-date and year-over-year data.

  • Canadian Housing Statistics (Annual)
    This comprehensive priced report is an annual sourcebook of Canadian housing statistics, bringing together a wealth of current and historical data and narrative summaries to help you identify and react to trends. Its numerous tables provide you with statistics on housing starts, completions, and dwellings under construction, as well as market absorption, rental market conditions, mortgage loan approvals, interest rates, estimated households served through social housing programs, and demographic data.

  • new Renovation and Home Purchase Detailed Tables (Annual)
    A survey of more than 5,000 households per centre, asking respondents about renovation and home purchasing activities in the prior year, as well as plans for purchasing or renovating in the upcoming year. Detailed data table reports provide information on renovation and home purchase activity for Halifax, Montréal, Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. Reports providing data on renovation activity in the prior year are available for St. John’s, Québec, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Edmonton. Results from all centres surveyed are combined in the Detailed Tables – Major Markets Combined report. A Major Market Highlights analytical report is also available.     The Renovation and Home Purchase survey is an updated and expanded version of the Consumer Intentions to Buy or Renovate a Home Survey which was conducted until 2006.

  • Consumer Intentions to Buy or Renovate a Home (Annual) — Product discontinued in 2007
    Information previously contained in CMHC’s Consumer Intentions to Buy or Renovate a Home series of publications can now be found in the Renovation and Home Purchase reports. The Renovation and Home Purchase survey is an updated and expanded version of the Consumer Intentions to Buy or Renovate a Home Survey which was conducted until 2006.

    A survey of approximately 4,000 households per city, asking respondents about their plans for purchasing or renovating. Detailed data table reports are available for Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montréal, Halifax, Ottawa (for 2005 only) and all centres combined. A Major Market Highlight report is also available.

  • Housing Now — Regional (Quarterly)
    Provides a timely look at housing construction starts, completions and absorptions on a monthly basis. Broken down geographically, it includes average and median price data.

  • Housing Now — Major Centres (Monthly or Quarterly, depending on market)
    Summarizes local housing starts, mortgage rates, economic indicators, new home prices, absorption rates and unsold inventory by intended market, and quarterly provides topical analyses of economic and demographic developments.

  • new Rental Market Report — Canada and Provincial Highlights (Semi Annual)
    Commencing in 2007, these reports will be produced semi-annually, providing an overview of the results of CMHC's Fall and Spring Rental Market Surveys. A publication is available for each province and also for Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. New in December 2006, is the Canada Highlights Report introduced to complete the CMHC's suite of rental market reports.

  • new Rental Market Statistics (Semi-annual) 
    CMHC's Rental Market Statistics report provides detailed tables and data on vacancy, availability and rent data for privately initiated structures at the provincial level; as well as, for major centres.

    Commencing in 2007, this report will be produced semi-annually.

  • Rental Market Reports — Major Centres (Annual) — Enhanced
    CMHC's Rental Market Reports are available for major centres on an annual basis and cover in detail the Fall Rental Market Survey results. Each publication includes detailed statistics, in-depth analysis, and a forecast. New in 2006, for some centres, the content of the report is enhanced with secondary rental market information.

  • Housing Market Tables: Selected South Central Ontario Centres

    Electronic editions now free!
    This publication, unique to the "Greater Golden Horseshoe Area" of Southern Ontario, includes statistical tables that provide data on the number of dwelling units started, under construction, completed, absorbed and completed yet unoccupied for all Municipalities in this area. Data is presented by housing type, tenure and is available for each current month and year to date.

  • Residential Construction Digest (Prairie Region)

    Electronic editions now free!

    This report is designed for industry professionals involved in the development of new subdivisions. It provides detailed monthly new construction statistics at a submarket level, for absorbed and unabsorbed single family homes by price range and house type. Other new construction data, including average and median new home prices, and multi-family units by tenure and unite type is also included.

    Separate reports are available for Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon and Winnipeg.
  • Time Series Data
    Time series of housing market data is available electronically through many options. Housing data is available on Starts, Under Construction, Completions, Newly Completed and Unoccupied, Vacancy Rates, and Mortgage loan approval activity.
