MINISTER STRAHL URGES PEACE RIVER BARLEY PRODUCERS TO VOTE

OTTAWA, Ontario, January 19, 2007 - The Honourable Chuck Strahl, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food and Minister for the Canadian Wheat Board, spoke Friday, January 19, 2007 to the Dawson Creek Chamber of Commerce, reiterating Canada’s New Government’s belief that Western grain farmers should have the freedom to choose how they market their grain while preserving a strong, viable, voluntary Canadian Wheat Board. Minister Strahl further stated that all farmers deserve to have the opportunity to seek out the best possible return for their products. Minister Strahl will be announcing the question to be asked in the barley plebiscite on Monday.

Canada’s New Government encourages all those eligible to vote to do so.
