On the next Search Engine, we’ll talk about how the Internet is changing the nature of war. Some starting notes on the topic:
- Last spring’s cyber-assault on Estonia
- Germany accuses China of espionage-attacks
- South African robot-cannon goes bezerk, kills nine
- Annalee Newitz’s upcoming Technology in Wartime conference

I read a compelling article on the state of the art of battlefield robots a while back. It was in the February, 2007 issue:

Cyberwarfare you say.
Although what happened in Estonia is interesting I think you might be able to get a little more information closer to home. Boingboing posted something about Storm Worm and is now down. Co-incidence? I think not!!

I found a fascinating Wired article on the Estonia cyber attack, and more specifically on the involvement of highly placed people in the word internet structure (the so-called Vetted) in the efforts to defend Estonia from this attack.

Three contemporary things things I'd check out for starters are James DerDerian's book Virtuous War, the Joint Vision 2020 and http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.06/battlefield_pr.html
