Last year, Raymond Charles Yellowknee got drunk, stole a pickup truck and out-ran a police chase before colliding with a Pontiac Sunfire just outside of Slave Lake, Alberta, about 250 kilometres north of Edmonton. The crash killed 28-year-old Misty Chalifoux as well as her three daughters Michelle, Trista and Larissa. Now prosecutors are seeking to label the man a dangerous offender, which could be a life sentence. But what sort of precedent will that set?

October 26th: School of Secrets

After decades, the secret was finally out in the open. A high school teacher from Vancouver, Tom Ellison, admitted to having sex with 17 of his female students. Last fall Tom Ellison was tried and convicted of gross indecency and assault against several girls. "School of Secrets" is a new documentary about Tom Ellison and five of his former students. It will air on CBC Newsworld next week. The Current's Anna Maria Tremonti spoke to the Film Producer and a former student of Ellison's.

Canadian MC Buck 65 has spent most of his career making music people find hard to classify. Technically, it's hiphop, but it's also blues, folk, pop, rock and more. His new CD, Situation, continues that eclectic approach. The album is, basically, a tribute to the year 1957. It was in 1957 that Leave It To Beaver appeared on TV, Humphry Bogart died, and On The Road was published. Buck 65 was in our Toronto studio with Host Matt Galloway on Here and Now.
