NATIONAL TOURISM INDUSTRY SPOTLIGHT SHINES ON CALGARY AMBASSADORS

Fostering hospitality excellence in their delivery of tourism services, two Calgarians were acknowledged at the 2007 TIAC National Awards for Tourism Excellence on November 5, 2007.

Mr. Al Bailey received the 2007 Via Rail of Canada Volunteer of the Year Award for his outstanding dedication and commitment to the tourism industry in his promotion of the city of Calgary.

Mr. Herb Spear received the 2007 Delta Hotels and Resorts Employee of the Year Award for his exemplary dedication in his role as an employee for WestJet, and for his personal commitment to enhanced training and development.

In addition to these awards, Bailey and Spear were recognized earlier this year at the 45th Calgary White Hat Awards. Al Bailey was the recipient of the Mayor's White Hat Award. Herb Spear was the recipient of the Honorary Doug Johnson Service Award.

Tourism Calgary is proud to acknowledge the achievements of these tourism ambassadors and is most appreciative that their efforts are being recognized for the imprints they are making within the tourism service industry.
