Several trade “fams” (familiarization tours) throughout the year supported by the CTC’s Canadian partners: Ontario Tourism, Travel Alberta, Tourisme Québec and Tourism British Columbia. Fams give Mexican tour operators a chance to experience new destinations for future promotions.
Consumer Development
Our target market is well-to-do travellers who can afford a high-end trip to Canada. We target 30 to 40 year olds, childless and free to travel at any time of the year. We are speaking to the curious traveller–those that are searching for inspiring personal experiences to enrich their lives. They are dynamic, spiritual and optimistic.
Consumer Advertising
- Golf campaigns to position Canada as a Golf destination among high-income Mexicans.
- Major television productions. We are organizing mass-market TV productions in various environments: soap operas, comedy and movies.
PR
- Visit Canada Program
- Several media “fams” throughout the year
- Canadá a Voces” award to recognize the journalistic work of the Mexican media, foster good will and encourage more Canadian stories.
- Two campaigns during 2007: one in February and one in September.
Promotions
- Direct mailings to consumers: this is a non-traditional strategy with major credit cards companies in Mexico and key tour operators. The aim is to jumpstart the decision to travel to Canada today.
