Public Service Staffing Tribunal
The Public Service Staffing Tribunal is an independent and quasi-judicial body which has been established pursuant to the new Public Service Employment Act to deal with complaints related to internal appointments and lay-offs in the federal public service. The Tribunal conducts hearings and provides mediation services in order to resolve complaints.
In fulfilling its mandate, the Tribunal not only helps to foster fair and transparent employment practices as well as constructive and harmonious labour-management relations, but also contributes to a public service that is based on merit and non-partisanship, strives for excellence and is representative of Canada's diversity.
