CFLC SIGNING CEREMONY SUPPORTING CANADIAN FORCES RESERVISTS

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA - The Honourable Mayann E. Francis, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia presided over a Signing Ceremony organized by the Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) on Friday, 28 September 2007 at Province House in Halifax, Nova Scotia. “It is an incredible privilege for me to be present at an event that recognizes the invaluable support provided by governments, employers and educators to Canada’s Reserve Forces,” said Nova Scotia’s Lieutenant Governor.

The Minister for Military Relations, the Honourable Murray Scott, also took the opportunity to proclaim “Reserve Force Day in Nova Scotia”.

Canadian Employers Honoured for Supporting Canadian Forces Reservists

OTTAWA - John Craig Eaton, National Chair of the Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) and Lieutenant-General Walter Natynczyk, the Vice Chief of the Defence Staff, presented national, provincial and special awards to 17 Canadian employers and educational institutions in recognition of their exceptional support to members of the Reserve Force. The ceremony took place on 09 June 2007 at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa.

2007 CFLC National Employer Support Awards Dinner, Parliament Hill - Ottawa

A special dinner for the recipients of the 2007 CFLC National Employer Support Awards was hosted in the Speakers Dining Room on Parliament Hill in Ottawa on the evening of 09 June 2007. Mr. Royal Galipeau, M.P. for Ottawa-Orléans and Deputy Chair of Committees of the Whole presided on behalf of the Government of Canada.

After the dinner, Mr. Galipeau arranged for a tour of the House of Commons for the Award recipients, nominators, military escourts and VIPs.

Time off to Serve

Time Off to Serve Logo

Record numbers of employers and educators in the province of Ontario are being asked to grant military leave. Land Force Central Area is looking for more than 600 Reserve Force soldiers to participate in Task Force 3-08, which will deploy to Afghanistan in 2008. The employer/educator support for military leave is a critical factor in enabling a soldier to volunteer to take part in this overseas operation.

The Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) takes pride in announcing the publication of the booklet Supporting Military Reservists on Campus. This booklet is a guide to assist educational institutions in developing formal policies of accommodation for Canadian Forces reservists whose military service conflicts with their academic studies or employment. Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) Employer Support Awards for support to the Reserve Force - DND Honours Employers

More than 180 employers and educational institutions were nominated for this year's Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) Employer Support Awards. The national winners have been selected and will be presented with their award in Ottawa on 9 June 2007. The nominations were submitted by members of the Reserve Force who are students or are employed as civilians.

The 2007 Employer Support Awards will be held in Ottawa on the 9th of June 2007. This will be the seventh such awards ceremony that the Canadian Forces Liaison Council has sponsored since 1994. The awards honour employers who have shown outstanding support for the primary reserve force. Primary reservists serve in the Canadian Forces on a part-time basis, and most of them either have civilian employment or are students.

Hydro Québec Acknowledges the Expertise of Reservists

In recognition of Hydro Québec's support, Jean Fournier, CFLC Chair for Quebec presents Mr Vandal with a CFLC certificate of appreciation. On 26 November 2006, Hydro Québec President and Chief Executive Officer Thierry Vandal and Chairman of the Board Michael Turcotte signed an agreement with the Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) to allow Hydro Québec employees who are also reservists in the Canadian Forces to get time off from work without penalties or limitations. By doing this, Hydro Québec is making a key contribution to Canadian and international security.

The Drummondville Area Recognizes Reservists' Expertise

In recognition of support from members of the community, Jean Fournier, Chair of CFLC in Quebec, presented certificates of appreciation on behalf of CFLC. From left to right: Claude Proulx, City Manager of the City of Drummondville; Alexandre Cusson, head of Collège St Bernard; Pierre Grondin, Director of student affairs at the CÉGEP de Drummondville; Bernard Gauthier, Assistant Director of Des Chênes school board; Francine Ruest-Jutras, Mayor of Drummondville; Jean Fournier, Chair of CFLC in Quebec; and Jacques Desbiens, Honorary Lieutenant Colonel of 6 R22eR.

On December 14, 2006, the City of Drummondville, Collège St-Bernard, Des Chênes school board and the CÉGEP de Drummondville signed an agreement with Canadian Forces Liaison Council (CFLC) to allow employees of the City of Drummondville and students in the area who are Canadian Forces Reservists to be given leave from their civilian employment or studies with no penalties or restrictions. By doing so, the City of Drummondville and the educational institutions are making an essential contribution to Canadian and international security.

Royal Roads University MOU will aid students
