Dr. Edna Turpin

Dr. Edna Turpin was appointed to the CBC/Radio-Canada Board of Directors on December 11, 2006.

Dr. Turpin has been an executive consultant for local, national and international clients since 2002 and was previously involved in business organizations in various capacities, including as Interim Executive Director of the Canadian Mental Health Association’s Newfoundland and Labrador Division and Director of Marketing and International Development for the College of the North Atlantic.

She served as President and Chief Executive Officer at Cabot College of Applied Arts, Technology and Continuing Education from 1993 to 1997. Previously, she had held senior positions at the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Department of Education, including Assistant Deputy Minister of Education, Programs and Operations, Assistant Deputy Minister of Education Programs, and Director of Special Education Services.

Dr. Turpin holds a Master’s degree in Education, Educational Psychology, (M.Ed.) from Memorial University of Newfoundland (1971), and a Doctorate in Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Maine at Orono (1981).

She is currently serving on several boards and committees, including those of Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro, the Newfoundland and Labrador Jazz Festival, the Friends of the Art Gallery of Newfoundland and Labrador, and the St. John’s Rotary Club.
