Investigations on the treatment and processing of the detainees in Afghanistan in early April 2006
On January 29th, 2007 the Military Police Complaints Commission (MPCC) received a letter and documentation which contained allegations of abuse concerning three individuals detained and processed by members of the Canadian Forces (CF) in April 2006 in Afghanistan.
In response to these allegations three separate investigations were launched.

Within twenty-four hours after receiving the complaint the CF Provost Marshal launched an investigation by the Canadian Forces National Investigation Service (CFNIS) to determine whether or not a criminal or disciplinary offence had occurred, and whether or not there is sufficient evidence to lay charges.

The Vice Chief of Defence Staff (VCDS) convened a Board of Inquiry (BOI) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged incident and to make recommendations as to the requirement for any changes to orders, directives, procedures and training as outlined in the Convening Orders.

The Military Police Complaints Commission (MPCC) has also launched an independent investigation under Part IV of the National Defence Act.
