25 October 2007 - Zharey, Afghanistan : Engineers use Badgers (armored engineer vehicles) to flatten an area conducive to attacks near a forward operating base.

The Joint Task Force Afghanistan (JTF Afg), 5th rotation, includes 2,500 soldiers from the Canadian Forces, mainly from the 5e Groupe-brigade mécanisé du Canada, based in Valcartier, Quebec. JTF Afg, under the command of Brigadier-General Guy Laroche, is deployed in the province of Kandahar, Afghanistan, and plays a key role in the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). Canadian soldiers are part of a NATO mission to improve the security situation in Afghanistan and help the Afghan people rebuild their country.
