Program Description

This partnership initiative between the Canada Council for the Arts and the National Gallery of Canada provides a two-year (September 2007 – September 2009) development opportunity for one mid-career curator of Aboriginal ancestry to work in a challenging museological environment.

The residency emphasizes the investigation and use of the collections of the National Gallery of Canada under the mentoring and engagement of the Gallery’s professional staff. In addition to conducting research and providing assistance on the collections, the curatorial resident will prepare, over the course of the two-year residency, an exhibition for the Gallery’s “On Tour” program.
