Federal-Provincial-Territorial Committee on Drinking Water: Guideline Technical Document on Chlorine in Drinking Water for public comment.

Health Canada, as secretariat to the Federal-Provincial-Territorial Committee on Drinking Water is posting the Guideline Technical Document on Chlorine in Drinking Water for a two month consultation process. This is a new technical document which does not propose a guideline for chlorine in drinking water. The document focuses on the health effects related to exposure to chlorine in drinking water supplies. It does not review the benefits or the processes of chlorination, nor does it assess the health risks related to exposure to by-products formed as a result of the chlorination process. Comments should be forwarded by email to water_eau@hc-sc.gc.ca. In order to seek clarification of your comments, and to be able to inform you of the results of the consultation, we ask that you include your name, affiliation, email address or telephone number. A reply acknowledging reception of comments will be sent. Following the consultation, a letter summarizing the comments received and the decision of the CDW will be sent to all participants and will be posted to the site along with the revised document.
