Garry Neill Kennedy: Superstar Shadow 1984-2005
12 September - 21 December 2007
NGC Library and Archives
For over 20 years, Halifax artist Garry Neill Kennedy has created 15 floor-to-ceiling wall paintings using the type font Superstar Shadow. This exhibition presents all the folders, booklets and postcards that he made to announce these huge painted wall texts or to provide explanations for them. The Library’s display vitrines also include Kennedy’s scale drawings, which guided each installation’s layout, and his selection of colours and their placement. Integral to this library exhibition is the book, Garry Neill Kennedy: Superstar Shadow 1984–2005, which presents two prototypes of the book that show the evolution the artist’s design.
