Canadian Music on Radio

Canadian content is the cornerstone of the Broadcasting Act's policy objectives for the Canadian broadcasting system.

The CRTC's Commercial Radio Policy sets out a policy framework to ensure pride of place for Canadian music.

It does this by defining a Canadian song and ensuring:

Finally, the CRTC monitors the radio industry to measure the effectiveness of its policies, regulations and decisions and to identify new areas for review and possible amendments. The CRTC produces facts and figures in its annual Broadcasting Policy Monitoring Report.
