After winning an Oscar and being named Hollywood's most bankable star, actor Matt Damon has another mantle to wear: sexiest man alive.
People magazine has bestowed the star of the Jason Bourne film trilogy with the lofty title this year, with Damon following in the footsteps of his Ocean's Eleven co-stars George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

"You gave an aging suburban dad the ego boost of a lifetime," the 37-year-old actor says in a letter published in the magazine, which hits newsstands Friday.
"My 9-year-old stepdaughter now thinks I'm cool — well, cooler."
Damon and wife Luciana Bozan also have a one-year-old daughter.
Past inductees to People's annual list include Mel Gibson, Denzel Washington and Johnny Depp. Damon's buddies Clooney and Pitt have each held the title twice.
Damon and longtime friend Ben Affleck shared a best screenwriter Oscar for their 1997 film Good Will Hunting, in which the duo also starred.
Damon's film credits also include Saving Private Ryan, The Talented Mr. Ripley, The Legend of Bagger Vance, Gerry, The Departed and The Good Shepherd.
Most recently, however, he has won acclaim for his role as super spy Jason Bourne in Paul Greengrass's trilogy of films based on the popular Robert Ludlum novels.
In August, Forbes.com named Damon Hollywood's best investment, after calculating that for every dollar he was paid for his last three roles, the actor brought in $29 US of gross income.
