Partnering with Other Export Credit Agencies

EDC maintains agreements with several export credit agencies (ECAs) around the world. These arrangements simplify the export financing process, allowing Canadian companies and banks to deal with just one ECA and one agreement, and enabling foreign customers to access attractive financing.

First step: approach your ECA
A Canadian company seeking export credit support should first contact EDC. We then contact the ECA in the country where the business opportunity exists and work to forge an agreement.

One lead agency
One lead ECA supports the whole deal, based on its particular schemes. The lead is typically the ECA in the country with the largest share of the project, or the agency in the exporter’s home country.

Existing Lines of Credit
Currently, EDC has reinsurance and co-financing arrangements in place with ECAs in 11 countries. More information is found in EDC’s information on Existing Lines of Credit.
