Education and Youth Employment Program
In partnership with educational institutions and key stakeholders, EDC’s Education and Youth Employment (EYE) program creates learning opportunities for young Canadians on the importance of international trade.

Through scholarships, event sponsorships and speakers, EDC is working to increase youth’s awareness of educational opportunities related to international business. Each year, EDC reaches hundreds of Canadian students, opening important channels of communication with tomorrow’s global business leaders.

EDC also supports a number of student programs and scholarships to encourage the pursuit of higher education by qualifying employees’ children.

Supporting our Community
Through participation in charitable events, such as the United Way’s annual charitable campaign and Day of Caring, EDC supports employee initiatives to raise funds for community development activities.

EDC has also contributed to various cultural events with the belief that the arts help move society from a local focus to a broader world view, which is vital to Canada’s international trade orientation and to enhancing EDC’s business relationships in key markets.  Most recently, EDC celebrated its launch of a permanent representation in Russia by sponsoring the world renowned Kirov Ballet’s performance of Swan Lake at the National Arts Centre in October 2006.  EDC has in the past supported other cultural events such as the National Arts Centre 2003 orchestra tour of the U.S. and Mexico, as well as the 2002 Tom Thomson exhibit at the National Gallery of Canada, and the Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards in 2000 and 2001.
